About FLAG GRIMSBY

FLAG GRIMSBY have been providing recreational activities to children and young adults with a range of special needs and disabilities for more than 15 years. As a registered charity, we strive to meet the needs of every individual by enriching their lives with educational activities, developing social skills and independence, empowering them to play a role within the community.

FLAG GRIMSBY aims to provide a safe and supportive environment for children and young people with disabilities to meet and interact with friends. Based at Strand Street School, qualified and experienced staff are on hand to supervise and care for the needs of each individual, ranging from complex medical needs to behavioural and emotional issues. We encourage our employees to continue their professional development and support where necessary to provide the best quality care for young people. All staff are CRB checked and FLAG maintain the highest standards in child welfare, regularly inspected by OFSTED.

FLAG GRIMSBY caters for children from all backgrounds from the Grimsby and surrounding areas and accept referrals from children themselves, parents, guardians, carers, local authority and other external agencies. Please contact us to enquire about our services.

So how do we do it

What can you expect?

The services offered by FLAG provide children and young people with opportunities to escape social exclusion, build their independence and personal life skills. FLAG alleviates some of the pressure faced by the local authority and allows parents, guardians and carers to spend some much needed respite whilst safe in the knowledge that their child/young person is being cared for and supported by experts.

We also pride ourselves on providing the space for birthday parties where children and young people can enjoy their day whilst parents, carers and guardians are supported by experienced FLAG GRIMSBY employees to make it a truly memorable experience for all.

We can’t exist without your support

The work we do cannot exist without the kind donations of our supporters.

As a registered charity, FLAG’s outgoings include specialist employee costs, insurance, rent, transport hire, professional fees and numerous other costs, paid by donations we receive from the public, local authority grants (if successful in our application) and voluntary donations by the families we support for the services we offer.

Where does the money come from?

We get an annual grant from the local authority but this is not guaranteed and we have to apply for it.

Parents pay a sum for each Saturday but if they cannot afford it we would not refuse the child and they also pay towards the cost of away days. We rely on fund raising, donations and charity and we are very grateful to the various organisations who have supported the work FLAG GRIMSBY does. But as with many other organisations money is always tight.
